Several people can contacted me about "what can i do
It usually takes a day to out together the assessment and plan. Please be patient: I will post everything on my blog http://sarajeans-notes.blogspot.com/ and on FB.

what we know so far:
The Red Cross Japan is asking people to donate blood and money but at this time they are still assessing needs. They sent a team for assessment last night.

Right now however they are asking people NOT to call them about volunteering- they need to keep the lines open.

I have put out a call to several disaster relief NGOs I know to see what their needs are.

SORRY but THE MARCH 13 CHRISTCHURCH EQ FUNDRAISER HAS BEEN CANCELED!

I THINK IT COULD HAVE BEEN AN IMPORTANT TIME TO BRING TOGETHER PEOPLE IN TOKYO WHO CARE. IN OUR DIFFICULTIES WE SHOULD NOT FORGET OR IGNORE OTHERS WHO HAVE BEEN SUFFERING. MONEY WILL BE NEEDED FOR A LONG TIME COMING. LET US NOT TAKE THIS AS AN OPPORTUNITY TO BE COME MORE INSULAR THAN WE ALREADY ARE.

This Sunday, March 13, at Favela in Aoyama a special event to raise funds for the victims of the Christchurch earthquake will be held. The night will include top DJs, live painting,and delicious food. There will opportunities to win a hamper of fantastic New Zealand food and wine and a whole lot more.

Every cent raised will go to the official Christchurch Earthquake appeal.
A donation at the door will get you in so make sure you come and enjoy a great Sunday night and help us make a difference for Christchurch.

Following the success of SKYLINES 2008, People for Social Change (PSC) is pleased to announce the next SKYLINES party:

SKYLINES 2009- a professional networking party bringing together people from many walks of life to support, promote and raise funds for 2 nonprofit organizations addressing the issues of children’s and women’s health.

DATE/TIME: Saturday, February 21st, 2009, 3:30-7:00pm

LOCATION: TBA December 10st, 2008

We are also seeking sponsors and donations to be used as auction and raffle prizes. Items we need include: gift certificates for dinners, hotel stays and trips, tickets for concerts, plays or other special events, DVDs, CDs, gift sets, airline tickets, wine, liquor, memberships or subscriptions, electronics, books and so on.

Cash donations will be equally divided among the nonprofit organizations PSC supports. Donations in goods and services will also be used at the party to raise funds for these nonprofits.

On Sat Oct 18 - as part of a weekend of world wide action we also stood up to show our support for the global movement to eradicate poverty.

This was part of a series of events taking part over Oct 17-19, all over the world.

In 2007, 40,000 people in Japan and more than 4 million people all over the world took part.

PSC 3rd Anniversary Notes

Over the past 3 years we have had:

10 forums
2 workshops series
5 collaborative events
3 film events
10+ networking lunches and happy hours.

So far our events have attracted - as speakers, participants and facilitaors -

300+ people
from 50+ groups
from 20+ countries

There are many who have supported us over the past 3 years but I wanted to highlight a few of the key people who have make things happen since Feb 2005.

I would like to thank the following people for their time and commitment:

Ueno NGO Matsuri

At this years NGO Matsuri , PSC did 2 viewings of Invisible Children and each viewing was followed by a discussion session.

About 200 people came to whole day open house sponosred by the nonprofit NGOs housed in the Maruko Bldg aka the "NGO biru."

Viewers were deeply moved and many people seemed interested in spreading the word about the situation these children face.

In December 2006, most of the PSC planning group members met to discuss the PSC 2007 direction. It was a time for reflection on the projects and progress we made in the past year and a chance to look to the future.

Skills Build Forum 8 was held on Dec 2.
Participants and panelists really took to the new Take Action Session.

Skills Build Forum 7 was held on Sept 23.
We had a wonderful group of participants and panelists.

NGO Matsuri in Ueno a huge success !
September 10 - More than 300 people joined the Matsuri. PSC volunteers - Rebecca, Dawn, Pania and Sarajean - gave distributed more than 150 forum 7 fliers, while also introducing PSC, Forums and new projects.

Pania and Dawn also ran two workshops which were a big hit with young and old!
